How much will my trip cost ??? Arghhh .... The question everyone asks, and the one that has no straight answer . The only answer that we can give you is , only YOU will know when you BUDGET it . But what we can do tell you are the things you should consider when budgeting your trip . :'))

FYI, you need to be aware that trips cost more than just what you spend on the trip . There are Pre-Trip Expenses, Trip Expenses, and those little "Ghost Expenses" that we don't take into account but that could add up quickly and take us out of budget .  Here is a breakdown of the most common expenses :

(i) Pre-Trip Expenses - Among things you need to get before you start your trip .

  • Travel Insurance: The price vary depending on the type and extent of insurance you decide to take, the duration, and the place of residence . MSIG Travel is one of the most trusted travel insurance companies among travelers in Malaysia . Before heading out on the road, get a quote to keep your travels safe .
  • Transportation: Take into account airplanes, train, coach, taxis, subways, trams, ferry, and other methods of transportation.
  • Accommodation: Good motels can start from RM 60 per night and hotels from RM 90 per night . Of course, the prices vary depending on the city you are visiting . Get tips on choosing cheap accommodations

(ii) Trip Expenses - All the expenses you incur while travelling and   are usually budgeted when you plan your trip.

  • Souvenirs: Liked that key chain? That necklace? That t-shirt? and many other stuff ?? Then you don't mind to buy it if you have the money . There is no way to budget accurately for souvenirs since this is something we will not know until we get to the store . Most importantly, the budget depends on your buying trends .
  • Foods: A good daily budget for food, you can have your meals at various food court rather than expensive restaurant .
  • Sightseeing: Of course you want to sightseeing and go on tours right?.. You might not be taking tours everyday but its good to have a daily budget . Actually, city passes are good to save money on sightseeing . :')

(iii) Ghost Expenses - This is not meant by when you spend on it, you'll get haunted ! But, the expenses that we don't usually budget accordingly ..

  • Wash Room Fees: Most country nowadays are charging for their public toilet . Obviously !
  • Exchange Rate and Fees: When exchanging money to a different currency there is an exchanging rate that is slightly different (below) than the current exchange rate . This difference is considered the exchange place fee . It is always recommended to exchange a large amount of money, but only if you expect to use it .
  • Random Snacks: We always find some random local snacks that we want to try (chocolate, hot dogs) . *nyum-nyum*

2) PACKING LIGHT

Even when you have the "perfect" backpack, you should know how to pack correctly according to your trip . To prevent muscle strain and back pain, it is advisable to pack as little and as light as possible . *do girls can??* heeee ... How much you need to pack for you trip ? Well, it depends on the season and length of your trip . Common sense will dictate this and this is some recommendations to consider :  :'))

  • If you're traveling during winter, try packing clothes that can be used in layers . Layering is more effective than carrying that bulky sweater and coat.

  • Choose dark or neutral colored clothing . This helps "hide" the stains .

  • Roll your clothes into tight tubes . This saves space and reduces wrinkling . (refer picture).

  • Carry a laundry bag in your pack . It will help separate your dirty clothes and keep your clean clothes fresh .

  • When writing your packing list, try to reduce things to the minimum . Don't add things just because you think they can come in handy . From experience, most of the time those "handy" things are almost never used, and you ended carrying them all the way .

  • Use airtight bags for your clothes and important stuff . They help reducing the amount of space clothes take and also help protecting everything from getting wet .

  • If possible, try to leave at least 25% of your pack free . You will see that as you spend your time traveling, it will fill up with souvenirs and extra stuff . Of course !! *wink2*

So, this is from us telling all of you about the HOT TRAVEL TIPS, hopefully it can help you to plan your budget wisely and your trip could cost more or less .  Let's hope that it cost less .......

Till then ! :')  Merci ~~
